The Judge due to hear the expungement case

Your Honor,

We those that have signed this petition want you to know that we feel that it is completely unacceptable to even remotely consider expunging the record of the felon you have standing before you.

The crime he committed was against two little girls who were completely defenseless and with out fault. They were ten and five at the time that they lost their innocence at the hands of the person standing before you. Since that time, the once ten year old girl has battled eating disorders, suicidal tendencies, self mutilation, poor scholastic performance, depression, anxiety attacks, poor self esteem, she is terrified of men, and very confused about sex. Her younger sister also has a horrible time with depression, attachment issues, memory losses, anxiety, malaise, poor scholastic performance, inability to make or keep friends and relationships, and fear of loss.

These issues are intense and ongoing. The person who did this to my daughters should not have his record expunged simply so that he can have the convenience of attending the college of his choosing. We owe it to his victims to keep his heinous crimes on his record, so that if and when he re-offends, everyone from the new victim, to law enforcement have the whole picture, with all the facts in order to ensure that the punishment fit not only the crime, but the history of the criminal.

Signed,

Denise Saponara

Sexual assault affects people of every age, race, political, social, economic, and religious affiliation. There are 728,435 registered sexual offenders in the United States Right now. 1 in 4 girls is sexually abused before the age of 14. 1 in 6 boys is sexually abused before the age of 16. The average child molester has between 360 and 380 victims. In the United States 2, 100 children go missing every day. 54% of rapists never get reported to police and 97% of rapists never see a day in jail. This predator has already eluded jail time. If his record is expunged, if he re-offends, on the off chance it is reported, it will be treated as a FIRST OFFENSE, AND AGAIN, HE WILL NOT DO ANY JAIL TIME!!! THE NEXT TIME IT COULD BE YOUR DAUGHTER, YOUR CHILD, YOUR SISTER, OR YOU! Send a message to those who would prey on women and children and those who can not defend themselves. The damage you have done is permanent. So are the consequences of your actions!
