the Cahaba River winds through the area east of Birmingham, Alabama, it passes through a
147 acre tract that is called Camp Coleman. Camp Gertrude Coleman has been a
place of adventure, fun, friendship and education for thousands of Girl Scouts since
it was founded in 1924.
In May 2012, without consulting with the membership of the Council, the Board of the Girl Scouts of North-Central Alabama decided to close and sell Camp Coleman.
We formed the Friends of Camp Coleman shortly thereafter and have been working diligently to Save Camp Coleman in the months since that time.
We fear that it will be sold to developers, but even more, we mourn the loss of 87 years of history and enjoyment for thousands of Girls Scouts, and those in the future. Please help us stop this action.
Regardless of your geographic location,If you are a Girl Scout, a Girl Scout alumnae, the parent or grandparent of a Girl Scout, or just a concerned and motivated member of the community who wants to see us retain this natural treasure for the future, please join our group here on Facebook at Save Camp Coleman, or on our website at FriendsofCampColeman.com.
Your physical and fiscal support is vital, as is your willingness to spread the word to help us stop this action.
