Spread the Love!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area Amigos Latinos Committee is asking for a $20 donation. 100% of the funds raised will go towards matching 14 year old Melvin for one year with a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters one to one mentoring program. Please take 2 minutes to watch his video story or read it below.
As a celebration for Melvin, join us at the "3rd Annual Spread the Love" charity event February 6th at Infusion Lounge from 6-9:30pm. Entertainment and drinks will be provided.
A year ago Gloria enrolled her son Melvin to the Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program because her son lacks a strong male role model in his life. If he doesn't get a mentor now, she is afraid he will go down the wrong path soon.
14 year old Melvin, his siblings, and sick Mother live in public housing in San Francisco Mission's District. His father has been in and out of his life and now is completely out of touch. His single Mother works long hours, is raising multiple children, and shared with BBBSBA that she battling with Cirrhosis, the final phase of liver disease.
Melvin is at a stage in his life, where he is struggling in school and hanging out a lot in the streets with friends. He is no longer wanting to hang out with his Mother and share his feelings. But he is hopeful that BBBSBA will find him a strong Big Brother who can inspire him, hang out, and talk to him about " guy" issues. His dream is to graduate from High School and become a successful Chef. BBBSBA's ALC is dedicated to helping Melvin. With your donation we can make this happen
