Recent years have given the American People cause to say ENOUGH. We as a people will not stand by idly and allow you, our elected officials, to destroy our lives. With the 2012 election year over we are standing on the edge of the fiscal cliff watching our elected officials bicker and accomplish nothing, while our very livelihood is at stake. We have made the best choices with the options presented to us, but still feel that we have lost. With our elected officials firmly in place, it is time to demand reform on our political system.
Mr. President, Elected Officials, hear the screams of your people. We pay your wages, you are accountable to US.
1. National ban on political propaganda related to elections. The mud slinging and finger pointing must stop. Propaganda causes voter confusion and leads to people who vote for the best commercial. There should be strict rules regarding how a candidate campaigns to get elected. Campaigns should be based on fact: tell us who you are, what you're going to do, and how you plan to accomplish these goals.
2. Lower wages and benefits for all elected officials. You cannot understand the American People if your lifestyle is so different than ours. Elected officials should make no more than a "livable wage," no more than $55,000/yr. Your job is one of service to the people, you should do it to help. You cannot help if you don't understand the problem. In addition to your gross overpay, you have a myriad of fringe benefits: homes, cars, lifetime medical, lifetime pay, and travel expenses, all coming out of the taxpayer's pocket. Elected officials should receive the same "retirement package" that the average citizen gets after 30 years on the job. You pay into your pension plan over the course of your career. You do not get pay/benefits for life after one term of service, earn it.
3. Stiff Penalties for Political Atrocities. Elected officials get elected because they say that they will/won't do something for the people. Often after the election, they do the exact opposite of what they said, creating many problems for the people who put them in office. Committing political atrocities should be against the law with punishments ranging from fines to jail time or a combination of the two. Removal from office is not necessary because we want to reform our elected officials, not replace them. Additionally, the crime of accepting "donations" from big businesses should be in the political atrocity category as it undermines the system put in place for the people.
Integrity, Accountability, Equality, Justice! Elected Officials, America demands you reform yourselves. Do you have the courage to turn your pens around and inflict the same pain on your peers as you have inflicted on us?

Recent events have caused the American People to look hard at our elected Officials and wonder how they got into office, what are they doing, how they get away with it, and most importantly WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR IT? The 2012 election year saw many candidates using social media to their advantage. We, the American People, must use social media to get the elected to hear our demands.
