Sign the Petition to

NFL NBA NCAA NHL and MLB

Everybody is aware of breast cancer and all companies and sports organization are still willing to raise awareness, but ask any of those women that are mothers if they would rather it be them or their child. Did you know that childhood cancer has an awareness month? Its September. These children live in a hospital for months at a time. Instead of talking with classmates they talk with nurses and doctors, instead of learning about reading, writing and arithmetic, they learn about what their cancer is doing to their body and they learn about what the drugs they're given do to them also. Too many of them aren't lucky enough to make it into remission. Cancer is the disease that causes most deaths among children. I'm not going to post the "official" numbers because they are only 5 year studies and they don't tell what happens after 5 years, also, what those numbers don't tell you is that these children are more likely to get another life threatening disease due to chemo destroying their immune system. I believe that the NFL, NBA, NCAA, NHL and MLB should show support of childhood cancer by wearing gold in the month of September.

Signed,

Erik Rutherford

We need people to sign this to help raise awareness. One reason we need awareness is because parents don't always know the symptoms of cancer and doctors don't always diagnose the cancer in a timely manner making it harder to fight the cancer when it is found. These children don't have a real childhood, how can you in a hospital? Another reason we need to raise awareness is for funding, childhood cancer doesn't get the funding it should and because of that doctors cant run tests like they need to be able to find a cure.
