Wal-Mart is the largest gun dealer in the US, and sells deadly assault rifles like the AR-15. There are many petitions requesting that Walmart stop selling these weapons. However, unless Wal-Mart's bottom line is impacted, it is very unlikely they will budge on their position. See Video of Wal-Mart's Statement.
This petition is about BOYCOTTING WAL-MART!
Boycott shopping at Wal-Mart until they agree to stop selling assault weapons permanently, both in stores and on-line.
We need to respond to Wal-Mart in the same way we would to a destructive neighbor who is selling weapons from their home. We'd use whatever legal channels we have, and until there is a resolution, avoid Wal-Mart. Boycotting is the simple act of saying "No" in a clear way. Allow other conscious retailers like Target or your local supermarket to meet your needs without causing harm to anyone. Who knows, perhaps other retailers will offer incentives to support this movement.
Isn't the safety of others worth more than the few pennies you save by shopping at Wal-Mart?
Wal-Mart's motto is "Save money. Live Better" Wouldn't we all "Live Better" if we learn to "Stay Alive Better" as a nation?
Put pressure on Wal-Mart by impacting their bottom line. Boycott!
Does this just sound too easy and a bit naïve? Do you respond with "Wal-Mart is TOO BIG!"? "There won't be enough people who are willing to boycott them" Why don't you join me in this social experiment in democracy and find out if we can change the course of a destructive trend in our culture?
Boycotting has been a powerful tool in changing policy. Martin Luther King and Gandhi both used it and that was long before the Internet. The US uses boycotting to put pressure on foreign nations.
Are we saying Wal-Mart is evil? No, they work hard to provide good products, but their priorities are wrong. They put profits before people instead of people before profits.
Please note: Wal-Mart does support some programs that benefit the community, like Michelle Obama's "Let's Move project". It helps fight obesity in the US by giving communities access to healthly foods. If you need to Boycott everything except perishable good like fruits and vegetables in order to keep your family healthy, then do that. Then the message is we support life-affirming aspects of Wal-Mart and say "No" to what harms life. So it's that simple.
