Hey everyone! I want to tell you all about Volunteers in Asia (VIA), an incredible non-profit organization that has given me and hundreds of other volunteers the unique and life-changing opportunity to live and work abroad in Asia. VIA places recent graduates in year-long volunteer positions with NGOs, universities, and schools in Thailand, Cambodia, Indonesia, China, Myanmar, and, for me, Vietnam! They also bring Asian students to America to foster the international exchange of ideas and culture.

I'm currently working in Can Tho, Vietnam, teaching English to local leaders who want to pursue graduate degrees abroad! I can't tell you how many amazing experiences I've been blessed to have, from hiking in the hills of Da Lat to slurping noodles on the side of the road, from riding on the back of a motorbike through rice paddies to belting out "My Heart Will Go On" at karaoke with my students. Any one of my fellow VIA volunteers would say the same - we've learned a lot, shared a lot, and grown a lot, and none of it would have been possible without VIA!

VIA is now celebrating its 50th anniversary (happy birthday!). To mark this momentous occasion, we're raising money to fund scholarships to help offset volunteers' program costs (they certainly helped me afford this opportunity!) and also to jumpstart VIA's new grants program. This program will provide funds to current volunteers to start small projects that benefit the local community, encouraging social innovation and creativity. We've already got some great ideas floating around; now, we need YOUR help to implement them!

Please consider donating to this great cause - it's my personal goal to raise $300 by February, and with your help we can make it happen!
