Thanks to donors like you, Sheila is the only student in our freshman class who still needs funding. Help us raise $800 by January 31 so she can continue her education at the Naivasha Girls School.
Sheila is a bright, motivated teenager from Kenya where high school is not free. Her single mother does casual labor, like washing clothes, to cover their basic needs but she cannot afford secondary school fees for Sheila. With no land or steady employment, Sheila and her mother struggle to survive.
But, with an EFAC scholarship and a high school education, Sheila can break the cycle of poverty and build a better future for herself, her family and her community. She dreams of studying accounting and "helping other needy children find and get an education."
In her first year at Naivasha Girls School, Sheila did particularly well in mathematics and agriculture, and enjoyed participating on her school's soccer and handball team. She tells us in her last letter, "Words are not enough to thank you and express my joy for you to give me this chance to be in this school. I wish you a merry xmas and all the best in the next year of your life."
