Due to the approach of the fiscal cliff, WVUSD has declared an impasse, effectively stopping all negotiations about furlough days and other such contract details with the Teacher Union. In response, many teachers of DBHS has ceased all voluntary activity including lunch test makeups, after school and before school tutoring, club advising, and teacher recommendations. Much of DBHS' club activity has been frozen and the inaccessibility of the teachers has affected our educational environment. As students, we feel that this is unacceptable and we demand the immediate reopening of negotiations.

To clarify: TALK IT OUT is neither on the district nor the teacher's "side." We simply want to restore our safe and nurturing educational environment. We feel that students should not be getting "punished" for the district or the teacher's union's decisions. I'm sure many of us have CLUBS that we care about, Letters of Recommendation letters for colleges and scholarships that we need, and EXTRA help we would like to receive from teachers in courses we are struggling in. We ask that negotiations be open again for the teachers so the students will become the District and the teachers' priority again.
