The airing of the names of the shooters in such tragedies as the Colorado and Connecticut shooting is doing nothing but hurting this country. We remember the shooters more then we do the victims. Shooters are elevated to celebrity status. We hear about their lives and who they are instead of who the victims are. The way that these acts are glorified and how the perpetrators are obsessed over, becoming common household names, is doing nothing but telling others that if they want the same status all they need to do is pick up a gun. Remove the names of these sick people from the broadcasts. Stop using the families to gain ratings. Remove pictures of grieving mothers. Stop showing perpetrators pictures. Instead include places were people can seek help if they are getting to this point. Tell of proper gun use, of charities to help the families but please stop glorifying the acts of these sick people. It is doing nothing to help us.

We live in a world were in two weeks people will remember the shooters name instead of the victims. Everyone is pointing fingers but has anyone thought that maybe we are partly to blame. The Facebook picture of the shooter today was shared over 10,000 times. We say how sick this person is yet we feed into it. New stations make money off of this. The easiest way to fame in this country seems to be shooting up someplace. There will be hundreds of stories about who this guys is, what his motive is, but there will be non about the victims. There will never be a reason to kill any person that makes sense to me but that will be the focus. We need to stop focusing on why it happened and focus on the fact that it did. We need to stop focusing on who did it and focus on who they did it to. If it was up to me the shooters name wouldn't even be mention. I honestly feel like if there was less fame to be gained from this then there would be less shootings. Its not good enough to just die anymore, for some reason people are so focused on being remembered, and unfortunately we remember these sick people. There are a lot of things that can be blamed but I feel like maybe we all should take more responsibility.
