Thank you for showing your love for children who have been victims of sex trafficking by joining our Courage House cause page. With the successful opening of two Courage Houses—one in Northern California, and one in Tanzania, Africa—we've seen hope restored for many children as they are given a safe place to call home.
This is what that hope looks like…
"Before I came home to Courage House, I didn't care about anything or anyone. I was so hardened that it didn't even occur to me that someone might actually care about me. Prior to Courage House, I had never considered my future. I was never in an environment where I had options or support. Success wasn't much of a priority.
But coming to Courage House changed all of that. I have gone from having seventeen years of being surrounded by failure and criticism to now having eleven months of victories and support.
More than eleven months ago, I was worrying about where I was going to lay my head down at night. Now, I am considering what my color scheme should be for my college dorm room. I am now in an environment where I am constantly being pushed to reach my full potential. I am surrounded by people who love and care about me.
Eleven months later, I care about my body. I am learning to let myself feel my emotions, the good and the bad. Eleven months later, I have gone to prom, graduated from high school, and I have gotten accepted into a four-year university with a full scholarship.
Eleven months later, I have passion and happiness. Courage House has shown me what a home is supposed to be like. Courage House has given me a foundation for the rest of my life, in eleven months.
I am determined to be the change I wish to see, and I am sharing my story so other girls who need hope can have a future too."
-From a girl who calls Courage House home
But we have learned that building houses and bringing children home to Courage House is not enough. Because of the severe trauma they've experienced, these children have extensive mental health and emotional needs. The restoration process—which involves therapies, programs and resources that address the healing of their body, mind, emotions and spirit—is difficult and expensive. In fact, our budget has increased over the last year to address these critical restoration needs and, as a result, we are short on our funds each month.
This is where you can help.
To meet the restoration needs of the girls who call Courage House home, we need to raise $50,000 by the end of December 2012. To break that down, if 500 people gave just $100 each, or 100 people gave $500, we could reach that goal. We also realize that $500 or even $100 can be a lot to give right now, so we ask you to consider giving whatever amount you are able to. Every gift—whether $10, $25, $50, or more—truly makes a difference.
Thank you again for showing your love for these children. Through your involvement, you are helping change the world, one individual at a time.
