Its the age Of Information. Everything we want is right at our hand because of Internet. Many of us are even addicted to Internet. Every culture and community tried to create there own space on "World Wide Web".
Since the creation of Wikipedia in 2001, it has grown rapidly into one of the largest reference websites, attracting 470 million unique visitors monthly as of February 2012. There are more than 77,000 active contributors working on over 22,000,000 articles in 285 languages. As of today[11/21/2012], there are 4,102,019 articles in English. Every day, hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world collectively make tens of thousands of edits and create thousands of new articles to augment the knowledge held by the Wikipedia encyclopedia.
Now Take a look at:- http://or.wiktionary.org
How Many Words you see..... ?
as of today[11/22/2012] there is only 133 words.
and see this:- http://te.wiktionary.org
as of today[11/22/2012] there is 39,465 words.
Now think what we are up to.... :(
You may find (If you Google) some websites (under development) providing English-Odia dictionary. In my opinion they are wasting there time. A sincere request to all those noble people to add there database to (http://or.wiktionary.org).
Though these few Odia (https://www.facebook.com/groups/OdiaWiki/) are working (Voluntarily) on developing OdiaWiki (http://or.wikipedia.org), neglected "Odia wiktionary" (or may be planning to do later). (Please join them and contribute to Odia wikipedia.)
Whatever, Not every one is able to pick Odia words for given English Words. Thus Translation of wiki pages has become a difficulty (Unless you own a Odia dictionary of course). But getting it online is a good idea, isn't it.. ?
And think what Google can do to improve its Odia glossary (Infact there is not one created yet)...? It needs everything online. Google uses wikipedia as one of its best resource for developing translations and glossary.
So all those "Khanti Odias", who crave to see there mother tongue on Google, help yourself.
Pick an English-Odia or Odia-Odia dictionary (you might be having1 i guess).
Go to http://or.wiktionary.org
Enter a word in the text box and click "ନୂଆ ଲେଖା"
There you go. Now type all information from dictionary and to save click "ସାଇତିବେ".
you should take a look at the format of dictionary if you've never used wiktionary :-
Click "ଏହାକୁ ବଦଳାନ୍ତୁ" and See how they are written using wiki markup...
Learn Wiki_markup.. (Its easy)
