Butterball CEO Rod Brenneman

Dear Butterball,
we the undersigned are horrified with recently released footage of animal cruelty happening in your Butterball plants in Duplin, Lenoir, Onslow and Sampson Counties during the month of October 2012.
To see your employees kicking and stomping on birds, dragging them by their fragile wings and necks, and maliciously throwing turkeys onto the ground or on top of other birds; birds suffering from serious untreated illnesses and injuries, including open sores, infections, and broken bones; and workers grabbing birds by their wings or necks and violently slamming them into tiny transport crates with no regard for their welfare is extremely disturbing.
We demand that all employees that have been found to have participated in this cruelty are terminated immediately, and that you also push for those to be prosecuted and harshly punished in Court for Felony animal cruelty.
Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I know what I'm serving? After watching this undercover video, it’s not going to be a Butterball turkey.
So- will you be buying a Butterball turkey this year?
Sincerely..

Signed,

Jessy Svetanoska

Animal-rights group Mercy for Animals releases video apparently showing Butterball workers kicking, dragging and throwing turkeys
An undercover MFA investigator reportedly documented animal cruelty at Butterball operations in North Carolina last month. Similar abuse was reported at another of the top turkey producer's facilities last year. The company has vowed termination for any guilty employee.

In October of this year, undercover investigators from Mercy For Animals recorded a number of disturbing events. These include, "workers kicking and stomping on birds, dragging them by their fragile wings and necks, and maliciously throwing turkeys onto the ground or on top of other birds; birds suffering from serious untreated illnesses and injuries, including open sores, infections, and broken bones; and workers grabbing birds by their wings or necks and violently slamming them into tiny transport crates with no regard for their welfare."
Mercy For Animals, says it has undercover footage of Butterball employees in North Carolina kicking, dragging and throwing turkeys at five facilities across four counties. On top of that, the agency says the birds had open wounds on them. Mercy For Animals said abuse happened at Butterball plants in Duplin, Lenoir, Onslow and Sampson Counties during the month of October.
