There is some people out here crushed by student loan debt that have fallen behind by either lay offs, loss of job, family problems, or put on social security disability. We need to be able to escape the problems of these loans that we cannot ever afford to repay on the most common person on social security without 401k or other retirement plans or people on regular SSD or unemployment because we lost our jobs. Just because we maybe on social security that standard isn't good enough for them the US Dept of Education for debt forgiveness with your disability to be on SSI or SSD. If your disabled your disabled. When you are perminantly disabled you should be forgived of repaying a federal student loan because of the costs of living it is impossible to repay on such a small income under $15000 a year which I researched is the common social security SSD given to lots of folks. As for the rest of the other unfortunates out there there should be put in place legislation at the federal level to be able to include federal student loans in bankruptcy for these unfortunate folks who worked hard and cannot ever catch up on these loans or make a settlement.

You should sign because student loans are the next crisis in this country. First its credit cards now people are so buried in student loan debt for non school items. There needs to be put in place protection to protect the unfortunate who lose their jobs, who get placed on disability a way out who cannot ever afford to repay. First they targeted students with credit cards on campus now they push these loans and now this is the new issue. Something needs to be done to protect the people and when you sign this petition your signing to help protect the true disabled individuals and the less unfortunate folks who got delt the wrong cards in life with layoffs and lost everything they had homes, spouse died, etc. And they can never catch up on big student debts. There also needs to be put into place a limit on these loans on what they can be used for not for non school items too but that is a whole different issue but needs to be addressed to our president.
