It is past time that Facebook respects the choice of the people by enabling the close to 40.000 inhabitants of french St Martin to proudly set theIr place of residence to Marigot, Grand-Case or Quartier d' Orléans, Saint-Martin or simply Saint-Martin alone and no longer Marigot, Guadeloupe or Grand-Case, Guadeloupe, which are the only choices available up to today. Some of us rather write they live in Philipsburg, Netherlands Antilles or in St Maarten, Noord-Holland, or in Northern Mariana Islands or in St Martin, Mississipi or in so many other St Martin across the world that exist on Facebook, Sometimes they choose to live nowhere. I simply would like to have the choice to put on Facebook that I live in Marigot, St-Martin or I live in Saint-Martin

Since the 15th of July 2007 the Northern part of the island of St-Martin also know as the Collectivité d'Outremer de St Martin or the French Oversea Colletivity of St Martin became an autonomous territory of the French Republic. On the 7th of December 2003 the people of french St Martin have decided to no longer be under the administration of Guadeloupe and demanded a change of status by voting in favor of the article 74 of the french Constitutional Law. Our Goal is for Facebook to repair what is lived by many as a form of denial of our identity as St Martiners and to set the record straight: St Martin is internationally recognized and by French Constitutional law an autonomous entity and no longer a dependency of Guadeloupe (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Martin_(France)#cite_note-5 )
