Members of the UCSF community who want to show support for the relief and recovery of victims from Hurricane Sandy, may give to the American Red Cross through Causes.com.
Described by New York Mayor Bloomberg as the "worst storm ever," Sandy struck the the East Coast on Monday night killing 28 in the U.S., destroying more than 80 houses in a fire in Queens and leaving 7.5 million without electricity, according to CNN. The storm triggered floods, fell trees and sent large and heavy debri through the air. New York's transportation system has been halted.
Relief groups are working to make sure everyone affected by the storm has food, water and shelter.
The American Red Cross is providing safe shelter from Hurricane Sandy to thousands of people across nine states in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast as this massive and dangerous storm makes landfall, according to the agency. Donations will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those affected.
Thanks so much for your help!
