We who have signed this petition, believe there is a reasonable and logical reason to stop the Omak Suicide Race. It is in-humane to the horses that are forced to participate. The humans have a choice, the horses do not.

Horses in this race are injured every year during this race and in the acts of training for it. Some horses and Humans have died.

WE respectfully request you stop this race from happening in upcoming years.

Signed,

Joanne Svoboda

The Omak Suicide Race is still continuing! This should have stopped long ago. This is a race that has no reason to keep going other than the tradition of getting people and horses injured for the sake of pride and tradition.

We ARE getting the word out there. We ARE making a difference. CBS has aired a video of the controversial race. They have made a number of people aware, it is our job to sign the petition to STOP this!

Horses and also people are injured and is some instances die every year in this race...the Humans have a choice to participate, the horses do not.

What is the "World Famous Omak Suicide Race" ?

It is a Horse Race that is held in Omak ,Washington. Where horses and Riders Get the horses up to their top speed within 50 feet before plummeting down a 62 degree slope that is 225 feet in length. It doesn't end there...the riders then ride their horse straight into a river and will have to swim across, then they will have to race another 500 yards to the rodeo arena.

The danger to horse and rider is far too great, if a horse stops at the top of the hill it could cause a collision of horses behind it. If the horse loses its footing going down the hill it could roll over numerous riders (including it's own) and other horses.

it is not uncommon for a horse and/or rider to be injured during a fall. Now add a galloping horse with momentum and a 62 degree grade hill and your ASKING for trouble.
