The road between Lover’s Lane and 23 Maitagual Road in San Juan is in a state of disrepair and has been this way for too long. This road is about to collapse and there is no alternative route for villagers to access. Our children use the road at least twice a day to get to and from school. One child (7 year old Akil) has fallen victim to the recent landslip and broke his arm whilst falling. We are afraid that other children will also be hurt or even killed if something is not done to fix this problem soon.
In 2011 the villagers wrote P.U.R.E indicating their concerns. The agency has not responded. In January 2012 several villagers made contact with the Councillor of the San Juan Regional Corporation and the Self Help Agency to update them on this matter; however the problem still remains to be resolved.
We believe that at this point because of the recent landslides that putting gravel on the road will not help, as it would be like putting a band aid on a broken arm. This piece of the road needs to be repaired and we will not accept anything less
