Pledge to say no to plastic bags!

This pledge closed 3 months ago

The U.S. uses 100 billion plastic bags annually, which is the energy equivalent of 12 million barrels of oil (Worldwatch Institute. 2004 study). That's more than 250 bags per person, per year.

In 1977, the first plastic grocery bag was introduced to the supermarket industry. Since then, these single-use conveniences have become far too commonplace in our lives. They are used for a moment and stay with us for a lifetime, often found floating in our oceans, discarded on beautiful beaches, clogging drainage pipes, and killing wildlife. Our grandparents shopped without relying on plastic bags. Let's return to a time when we lived more sustainably.

We can break our dependance on plastics by working together. Join me in taking the pledge to say no to plastic bags and ask your friends to do the same.
