The Australian Federal Government

We the people, put it to Prime Minister Gillard and the Federal Government that Sri Lanka remains a very dangerous place to be a Tamil, despite the fact that the civil war has ended. Human rights agencies report that Tamils are going missing on a regular basis; stories of torture, sexual violence and murder are routinely coming out of the country. Meanwhile, the Sri Lankan heads of state stand accused of war crimes by the UN and have yet to come to trial.

As a minimum, we request that Tamil refugees be granted Permanent Protection Visas immediately. This situation is clearly unacceptable to Australian morality and we request the immediate rectification of this state of affairs, at least in terms of the refugee status afforded to Tamil people.

Signed,

Peaceful Protest

PLEASE SHARE: Sri Lanka remains a very dangerous place to be a Tamil, yet our government continues to send Tamil refugees back! These genuine seekers of political asylum have been caught up in the political games of both major parties around the "boat-people issue" - please tell our leaders that enough is enough and to grant Tamils refugee status immediately.
