The Prime Minister of Australia

We humbly pray that the Prime Minister of Australia recognises the sovereign rights of Indigenous people to protect all Australian's human rights and freedom of speech. We demand that Julian Assange, not be extradited to the US, that he be freed and not prosecuted. Imprisoning Mr. Assange would set a precedent that Indigenous and non Indigenous Australians, journalists, anyone who speaks the truth should fear abandonment by the Australian Government, censorship, and severe punishment by a foreign government. Mr. Assange is a citizen of an Australian democracy that the United Nations was designed to protect. "Democracy is a universally recognized ideal and is one of the core values of the United Nations. Democracy provides an environment for the protection and effective realization of human rights." If Australia, the United States, and the European Union truly represent democracy then they should not prosecute a person for speaking the truth about an abuse of power. This petition seeks to protect the Human Rights and freedom of speech of all Australian citizens and we demand that Julian Assange be freed without fear of extradition to a foreign country under threat of prosecution for telling the truth.

Signed,

Val Walsh
