We are asking you to please participate in the 2012 National Forum on Disability Issues on September 28, 2012 in Columbus, Ohio. We will be watching the live webcast of this forum all the way from California with our friends and families and we are looking forward to asking you questions about issues that are important to people with disabilities through interactive media.
The modern Disability Rights Movement in America started right here in California in the 1970s. Since then it has become a national focus for an increasing number of allied communities that recognize the important role everyday Americans with disabilities play in our society. We live by the mantra “Nothing About Us Without Us” and I hope that you can join us as an ally by participating in this forum.
People with disabilities of all ages are on the move and are an important constituent group to follow. In 2010 young Californians with disabilities advocated for the passage of the Disability History Week Resolution, which encourages teachers to give lessons on disability during the second week of October. In just two years this youth-driven movement has produced and distributed educational materials to nearly 1000 teachers resulting in approximately 150,000 students learning Disability History in their social studies classrooms. I hope that you will agree to participate in this historic forum on disability issues.

As one of the largest and growing voting blocks in America the Disability Community's issues should be addressed by our leaders. We urge you to tell the Presidential Candidates to attend the National Forum on Disability Issues on September 28, 2012. There are currently over 54 million Americans with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities, which include the growing number of senior citizens and the aging, and our families and friends, represent one of the largest constituencies in the country.
Can we count on you to be a part of our history by signing this petition?
