We, the constituents and citizens the great state of Ohio, are petitioning the Ohio Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives to demand a change in the unspoken policy of not addressing bullying in our schools. We have had one NPCS student pushed to the point of feeling he had no way out of a bullying situation other than taking his own life. There are many more children whose cries for help have not been addressed by faculty. How many more children must die before the faculty and school board and employees decide to take a no-tolerance policy on bullying? If a school district refuses to adopt this policy or law, they should be held accountable by having funding cut to that district until they are compliant.

We have lost one NPCS student to suicide as a result of bullying that was not addressed by school faculty. Many more children are being victimized on a daily basis with the faculty unwilling to help. In some cases, the victim is being told they must be "friends" with the bully or in extreme cases, are even being PUNISHED for retaliating. Do rape victims get punished? Do victims of muggings get punished? This MUST stop now. No more children should be subjected to bullying. School employees MUST be held accountable.
