How this will help

It is estimated that 176 million women worldwide have Endometriosis. Chances are if you are not affected by it yourself, you will probably know a woman who is.

Endometriosis is an extremely painful and complex condition. It occurs when tissue similar to that which lines the uterus, is found outside of the uterus in places where it shouldn't be, mainly within the pelvic region - in areas such as the ovaries, the peritoneum, ligaments supporting the uterus, the fallopian tubes, pouch of douglas, and also (less commonly) for some, the appendix, bowel, bladder, colon, rectum etc. This tissue creates lesions which then cause inflammation and pain and can contribute to adhesions/scar tissue formation.

Symptoms of endometriosis can include:

Painful periods
Painful ovulation
Pain with sexual intercourse
Abnormal bleeding
Chronic Pelvic Pain
Fatigue
Infertility

The reality of what it really means to live with Endometriosis is often not clearly explained nor understood by many - it is more than just bad period pain, it can be a chronic and debilitating condition. Currently, there is no known cure for endometriosis, however, there are treatments available that can help to relieve symptoms. If you suspect that you or someone you know has endometriosis, please seek a referral to an expert endometriosis specialist to discuss your symptoms.

Through raising awareness, and encouraging education, there is hope for a brighter future for us all. Hope for a cure. Hope for the end of the pain and the suffering for the next generation, if not our own.

I thank you in advance for your support and I wish you all good health. We're all in this together. Don't suffer in silence.
