We the public, ask that all information on investigations and any actions (lethal or non-lethal) being directed at the Wedge Pack be published and available on their webpage and Facebook page. In addition we ask that all non-lethal deterrents and hazing be practiced and documented before further, more drastic measure are taken. Translocation should be attempted, per the approved wolf management plan, before lethal actions are performed on the pack.
The McIrvine ranch owner has refused help from environmental groups, boycotted learning seminars and stated publicly he would like to poison or trap wolves. In addition, he is grazing his cows in a national forest. At least one of the depredations have occurred in the forest. Wolves belong in forests, cows don't. This area is a natural migratory path for wolves, and if this pack is removed, another will move in. Killing this pack will NOT solve the problem. This Rancher will expect WDFW to remove any future pack in the same, lethal manner. Per the plan compensation and education are supposed to promote tolerance towards wolves.
Lethally removing wolves does not promote tolerance. We are not at recovery levels in Washington state for our wolf population. The wolf is still protected and all non-lethal measures against the Wedge Pack including translocation have NOT been followed.
At this time the WDFW is setting trap lines and planning further lethal takes from the Wedge Pack. This is premature, and it is not clear that the intent of the Wolf Management plan is being observed.
All lethal actions should be halted until complete documentation is obtained and provided to the public. The rancher and WDFW should disclose all non-lethal that has been tried to date.
Cows do not BELONG in forests, and to punish wolves for that is ridiculous. Wolves are not the piece of the puzzle here that needs to change. Ranchers and WDFW and the Commission need to make changes.

The Wedge Pack is in danger of being eliminated unless responsible citizens demand transparency and access to investigative reports. In addition, we have the right to know what is happening on public lands, what other animals can be affected by trap lines, and what kind of damage the forest is being subjected to by having cows in the forest.
We are not going to manage wolves in Washington State as they are being managed in other wolf states. We demand scientific based decisions, not ones made by entitled ranchers who are unwilling to follow their end of the Wolf Management Plan.
