Protest Congressman Joe Crowley's Animal Deadly Free Trade Votes!

In October, Queens and Bronx Congressman Joseph Crowley, voted for free trade agreements with Panama, Colombia, and South Korea that will have have disastrous consequences for farmed animals and wildlife. With these votes, Crowley continued a trend of voting for every anti-animal trade agreement voted on by Congress since 2006. While these trade agreements are terrible for animals, big corporations will profit greatly. This Thursday, Crowley will hobnob with the corporate lobbyists at a fundraiser in Long Island City, Queens - join Global Justice for Animal and the environment and our allies to protest! We'll join environmental and human rights activists from TradeJustice New York Metro, Occupy Queens, and other groups who are fed up with Crowley pro-corporate free trade votes.

*When: Thursday, June 21st , 5:30-8:30PM

*Where:outside Studio Square , 35-44 37th Street, Long Island City, Queens, NY

*Directions: N or Q to 36th Avenue or M or R to Steinway Street.

If you intend to come, please RSVP at info@freetradekillsanimals.org or call (718) 218-4523 so we can know how many people to expect.

Also contact us if you'd like to go inside the fundraiser to give Crowley a piece of your mind directly instead of protesting outside (tickets are only $25).

Sponsored by Global Justice for Animals and the Environment, Occupy Wall Street Trade Justice Working Group, and TradeJustice New York Metro,

Background:

On October 12, 2011, Congressman Joseph Crowley voted for the Panama, Colombia, and South Korea Free Trade Agreements despite warnings that these agreements would doom countless animals.

These trade agreements will:

Increase factory farming and consumption of animal products.

Increase the likelihood of more live burial of farmed animals in South Korea as Korea expands factory farming to stay competitive with the US. Factory farming incubates livestock disease, leading to the live burial of millions of animals to curb the spread of disease.

Endanger critical wildlife habitats.

Expand illegal wildlife trafficking.

Poison wildlife by encouraging expanded aerial fumigation in Colombia.

Squander US leverage to encourage Korea to crack down on cruel practices.

Provide a source of new animals for marine mammal parks.
