China joined CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) on 4/8/1981 and has agreed to the ban on tiger products. However, poaching and illegal trade continue due to limited enforcement and the public's misinformation about the impact of medicines produced using tiger parts. Tigers are still illegally hunted for the use of their body parts in traditional Asian medicines (TAM). The trade of skins, teen, claws, bones, and other body parts is having a critical impact on tiger populations throughout the world. Illegal trade in tiger body parts and products, driven by the Chinese demand, continues to threaten the remaining populations of tigers worldwide, which declined from over 100,000 a century ago to as few as 3000 left in the wild.*
Help save the remaining tigers by signing the petition today.
