Twenty years ago at the first Earth Summit, climate change was already an urgent issue and countries committed to take action for future generations. In June, the United Nations is holding another Earth Summit called Rio+20 and those future generations are now here and demanding that Obama honor the “check” that was written twenty years ago in Rio de Janeiro. We cannot afford to have Rio+20 be another event that results in only words on paper. We need countries to work together and take decisive action. The United States has the power to block this from happening or move things forward.
We are calling on Obama to go to Rio+20 and work with other countries to speed the transition to a green economy and create jobs that contribute to a sustainable economy. Only by all countries creating agreements and working together can we realistically hope to address this global problem.
Join us in demanding that Obama “Honor the Check” and take action now! Tell Obama you want him to go to Rio+20! Tell Obama to keep our promises as a country and to keep his promises as a candidate, president, and world leader!

We are already seeing the effects of climate change, more wildfires and stronger storms are causing billions of dollars in damage, less predictable rainy seasons means crop failure in vulnerable areas, and we are pushing every system on the planet to the brink of collapse. We are asking Obama to take action on climate change at the United Nations Earth Summit. The United States made commitments at the original Earth Summit twenty years ago. These promises were like a “check” written to future generations and that check has bounced. Join us in calling for Obama to “Honor the Check” and take the action to address climate change before it is too late.

• You know the planet cannot afford another 20 years of words and no action.
• You are concerned about how little fresh water and usable land we have left and know that rising water and food prices mean chaos and potentially war!
• You are concerned about growing dead zones in the ocean because of heating and carbon.
• You don’t want more deaths among vulnerable populations like children and the elderly, the poor and the disabled during heat waves and storms.
