30% of students in the United States drop out of high school, with the dropout rate exceeding 50% in the highest need neighborhoods. Spark addresses the dropout crisis by connecting volunteer professionals with underserved youth in workplace apprenticeships to “spark” their potential. Students identify a “dream job,” and Spark matches that student with a mentor doing that job. As students explore the school-to-career connection, they build skills critical for academic success, gain a strong appreciation for the relevance of their education, and become motivated to work hard to achieve their dreams. Spark currently serves students in the SF Bay Area, LA, and Chicago.
Spark is excited to partner with Jordan Winery for its summer fundraiser on Saturday, June 2nd from 3-6:30pm. All donations made to Spark for this event are 100% tax-deductible and directly support Spark's Bay Area program, which will provide hundreds of middle schoolers in San Francisco, Oakland, and Redwood City with life-changing apprenticeship experiences. Thank you for your role in making our work possible -- we hope to see you at the event!
