Bombed out of their villages. Attacked by planes as they flee. It's a living hell for the displaced people of Sudan. Around 350,000 people have been forced to abandon their homes. And on top of this terror, people now have little food. Ongoing violence in the areas bordering with South Sudan, including recent fighting in Southern Kordofan and Blue Nile States has driven some 80,000 Sudanese refugees across the border into South Sudan, as well as 33,000 into neighboring Ethiopia. The UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) is providing shelter, protecting people from illness, and ensuring they have a place of safety. In this recent crisis, UNHCR is providing Sudanese refugees with aid through a massive airlift operation including: 2,300 family tents, 16,000 kitchen sets, 36,000 blankets, 21,000 jerry cans, plus thousands of mosquito nets, sleeping mats, and other essential relief items.
