Not all tissue and paper towels are made from responsible sources. The toilet paper you use may have a direct impact on the 400 Sumatran tigers left in the wild.
More than 5 million acres of Sumatran forest have been cut down to make the paper pulp used for toilet paper. These forests are home to the critically-endangered Sumatran tiger. This noble species, and many others, are being pushed to the brink of extinction as their habitats are depleted to make paper products.
Paseo is the fastest-growing brand of toilet paper in the United States today. Livi, another brand, is used by hotels, restaurants and schools. Both are made from fiber supplied by Asia Pulp & Paper (APP), a company causing rain forest destruction in Sumatra.
You can protect the Sumatran tigers by only buying 100% recycled toilet paper or FSC approved paper.
