For the first time in Mobilize.org history, one Democracy 2.0 Competitor at the Target 2020 California Summit will win the Mobilize.org Viewer’s Choice Award, but we need your help to make it happen. Join us in raising $1,000 to support an additional Democracy 2.0 Awardee at the Target 2020 California Summit in San Jose.
About the Summit:
On April 15-17, Mobilize.org convened 100 students from northern California’s community colleges for theTarget 2020 California Summit in San Jose, CA to discuss challenges they face in completing their education and collaborate on sustainable community solutions to address them.
At the summit, Target 2020 participants worked together to brainstorm, prioritize and propose top solutions that address barriers they face in completing their education. During the Democracy 2.0 Competition, the top solutions, proposed as projects, win financial investments and expert support from Mobilize.org and its partners to be implemented as campus, community or online projects.
All Target 2020 Summit participants were invited to submit their ideas for Democracy 2.0 Awards: financial investments (a portion of $25,000) and one year of expert support from Mobilize.org. Mobilize.org has selected 10 proposals and invited these individuals and teams competed in the Democracy 2.0 Competition on Sunday, April 17th.
About the Competition:
During the Democracy 2.0 Award Competition, each competitor had five minutes to present their idea to all summit participants and to all online viewers. Summit participants used a personal interactive keypad to vote on each project and select the top five projects to receive Democracy 2.0 Awards. Online webcast viewers NOW have the opportunity to select the Democracy 2.0 Viewers Choice Award winner by using interactive online voting (available on the Mobilize.org website – http://mobilize.org/get-involved/upcoming-summits/target-2020-my-education-our-future/target-2020-california/target2020live/) and determining the project that will receive the funds raised through this campaign.
Tune in and vote for your favorite project by viewing short videos from each presenter and voting online. You can vote online between Wednesday, April and Tuesday, April 26. The Viewers Choice Award will be presented to the project that receives the most online votes.
