Five California chapters of the Sierra Club have partnered to prevent Sierra Pacific Industries from logging more than a million acres of Sierra Nevada forest. Marilyn Woodhouse, a Sierra Club organizer leading the campaign against Sierra Pacific Industries, and thousands of others, are all too familiar with the devastation of logging. Over the past decade, the company clearcut thousands of forest acres that had cradled Marilyn's hometown of Manton, and others, near Lassen National Forest in the Sierra foothills. Stopping excessive logging, mining, and unchecked development is a vital first step in sparing the plants and animals of the Sierra Nevada-and the human population of California-from the worst effects of climate change. Your gift will help preserve these forests and protect environmental quality through a combination of public education, environmental litigation, grassroots training, publishing, and research.
