A large area of Staten Island's coast filled with residents was badly damaged.  If a worse weather condition occurred even more of Staten Island could be devastated.  We can't let another Sandy or worse destroy our Island. 

Please take a moment to express your sympathy, condolences, and support for the families of the victims of the Sandy Hook elementary school shooting, for the survivors and their families, and for the community of Newtown, Connecticut.

The community of Gerritsen Beach and surrounding area is in desperate need of help. We have paid our fair share in tax dollars over the years. I would never think this would happen in the USA since our government sends in our great military to provide humanitarian aid in times of crisis - to sets up

Because the health of these workers are important, spending time with their families are important. How do you feel when you have no days off from work and have to work 12 hours straight? Do you want someone on very little sleep driving a big truck ?

There is no reason for any further tragedies to come out of Hurricane Sandy. So much of New York City and its surrounding areas haven't had a chance to fully recover from Sandy, and New York City's Animal Care and Control is expecting animals who might have been lost or surrendered to be rescued
