Maintaining arts in public schools is critical in my opinion because the Arts prepare students for the real world by exposing them to culture, and teaching critical thinking which is very much needed. Arts Education stimulates and develops the imagination and critical thinking, and refines cognitive and creative skills.

Arts are one of few venues available for children to learn & use their imagination...someone has to.
art is a positive creative way for children to express themselves with and it so much fun! What would our world be without art? black and white that what it would be like.

The arts have always been the soft target when it comes to fiscal belt-tightening, removing the arts from education is taking the soul out of living, out of life. Australia has a wonderful reputation around the world for what our creatives do in the visual arts, music, writing, architecture, film-making and more, all creatives have been through a public school education, that's where it starts and it needs to be maintained and nurtured there because that's where it all begins.
Creativity is just as important as academics.
Hum I will say: Creativity is mush more important than academics.... Without creativity we will vegetate and die from boredom. ):
Creative intelligence is as important as any other, and moreso for those whose main strengths are in that area.
