About this Nonprofit
| Mission: | MTV's Staying Alive Foundation identifies and supports future leaders in the global response to AIDS, who are working where AIDS hits hardest to protect themselves, their peers, and their communities from HIV. |
|---|---|
| Description: | Twice yearly, the Foundation presents MTV's Staying Alive Awards: small grants that support innovative projects in schools, youth centers, and clubs using radio, TV, print, on-line and personal interactions that reach at-risk youth and protect them from the multiple threats posed by HIV and AIDS. Since it was established in 2005, 62 Awards have been given to young people in 28 countries mostly in the developing world. The Foundation's mandate to support individuals fighting AIDS on the frontlines is an unusual grant-making strategy that is showing extraordinary results as more and more young Award winners become HIV-prevention leaders in their communities. |
| Our Aim: | Our aim is simple. We want to make as many young people as possible around the world aware of the risk of HIV and AIDS. |
| How?: | We'd be pretty mistaken if we thought we could do this all by ourselves... which is why our Foundation is all about giving anything from $1000 to $10,000 to young people all around the world to set up / expand grass roots initiatives in order to raise AIDS awareness. |
| Just five dollars...: | If everyone can contribute just $5 - we can make a HUGE difference. Think what else you'd spend five dollars on - it wouldn't even get you lunch these days! However this small contribution by many people has the potential to make a massive difference to the lives of others. |
| Fact!: | Did you know that over half of all new HIV infections are in those under the age of 25? A pretty shocking, and sad, fact. But this is why we need your support more than ever. |
