Movement for Solidarity and Democracy - Burundi

Movement for Solidarity and Democracy: The newly created party is building a strong support in both rural and urban areas of both Hutu and Tutsi. Members are those, like Alexis that are tired of dishonest political leadership and want to see a country that is led by people who put the interests of the country before the interest of their own pockets and power. The party’s motto can be found in three magical words: Truth, Humility and Humanity.

The Movement for Solidarity and Democracy (MSD) puts the respect of life at the centre of its preoccupations. That is why for MSD, security goes beyond just physical security but also includes respect of basic rights such as food security, access to health, political freedom, the right to justice, and community and civic participation. There needs to be a political will and strong political desire to resolve the problems of security and disrespect of human rights so as to ensure the individual dignity and liberty of the people, so that the population can enjoy their rights. This is the conviction that drives the actions of the Movement for Security and Democracy in Burundi.

Democracy and security are hard to be found in the Great Lakes region of Central Africa, but Alexis is determined that it finds its place and plays a role in changing the region and Burundi in particular.
