I attended the Immigration Reform for America forum in Phoenix and I have to say I was disappointed. I know Border Action Network is listed as group that endorses this campaign for Comprehensive Immigration Reform, but I think it is the wrong move. We are not looking far enough forward by joining a bandaid solution that allows many of the same practices and policies as before. I only hope more and more people will give this plan the criticism it deserves and demand more from it. Don't let them tell us what principles we need to sacrifice to win, because some principles are just not worth sacrificing. We do need to look to the future but don't stop at one or two years ahead, look further into the future and see what kind of system this plan would create. The reality is that this plan would be no better and perhaps even worse than our current plan and would seek to marginalize people and groups that are fighting passionately for immigrant rights in the process, which makes things even worse. If anyone feels that I am wrong in all this, please feel free to contact me (cag237@nau.edu) by email or on facebook. I would be happy to debate this plan further.
