Bring the whole family for some fun down on the farm!
As our 25th Anniversary Outings series comes to a close, be sure to grab the kids and join us at the Irvin Farm for some good ol’ farmyard fun. Festivities include a guided hike, crafts, a scavenger hunt, hayrides, and information about forestry and restoration of the farm.
While many of the activities are offered throughout the day, please note specific times for the classroom presentation, hayrides, and guided hike.
1:30 & 3:00 Classroom presentation Learn about the farm, acquisition of the property, restoration of the house, and plans for the future.
1:30, 2:30 & 3:30 Hayrides
2:00 Guided hike Join TLC Land Manager Walt Tysinger and Forester Jerry Gaertner to find out more about the forestry operation underway on the farm, in addition to discussion of natural areas and the overall vision for the property.

November 8, 2008 - Deep River Historical Tour
From House in the Horseshoe to the Lockville Dam, the Deep River between Chatham and Lee counties is home to some of the most fascinating human history in the Triangle. On November 8, led by local historian Edwin Patterson, we will visit and explore four of the historic jewels of the Deep: House in the Horseshoe state historic site; the circa 1800 Tyson House; Deep River Park and the Camelback Bridge; and Endor Iron Furnace.

Enjoy the sounds and sights of owls and other nocturnal creatures on this moonlight hike at Johnston Mill Nature Preserve near Chapel Hill. Naturalist Chris Chao will lead this hike that will particularly appeal to night owls. Meet at the Turkey Farm Rd. entrance at 7 p.m.
