Dedicated to the promotion of open, honest adoption practices; abolishment of secrecy and closed records; and support of those whose lives are touched by adoption, whether open or closed.
1. Any adoption of merit requires truth and transparency, in order to be adoptee-centered.
2. Closed adoption practices are archaic, unjust and in urgent need of reform as the effects run counter to the rights of adoptees.
3. Truly open adoptions enable ongoing information exchanges and direct contact between triad members over the life span, for the adoptee's benefit.
4. Openness cannot eradicate adoptions' losses, nor compensate participants, but can counteract secrecy's devastating effects for those once adopted.
5. The healthiest families are those with the fewest secrets.
