Tara is a world heritage site and tells the beautiful history of Ireland itself. Tara is holy ground too because its said that the ark of the covenant is there. Tara must be saved and protected from these or any future roadways. I can't believe the roadways were ever allowed anywhere near Tara. I'm going to pray for Tara every night as well as sign these petitions and try to come up with some idea that could help and quickly. Here's to Tara.

If I caused offence it was not intended. I have no doubt that the "druids" have been in the thick of battle to save the Hill of Tara and have a genuine love of the area- I pointed out to Aiden that it was pretty hopeless if casting a few "spells" was considered an effective way to save the place. The druids are long gone...

Aidan and Linda: many of those Druids ARE activists, suffering the same dangers and abuses as all the other activists. Don't be so quick to make assumptions.

It is tragic that what we call progress is actually a regression of progress.

Well obviously a group of silly folk playing druid dress-ups is not what you need. It seems to me most of the Irish people don't care all that much and you can't blame problems on the colonisers anymore. What a great pity and tragedy...hopefully the EU will put a stop to this madness.

The boyne valley and rathlugh have been desecrated by a corupt and fatcat finna fail and green party led government. The will of the people has been ignored time and time again, from the shell to sea fiasco to the abolishement of xmas bonuses. Its not even a motorway its a 4 lane dual carrigeway with toll bridges just like the m50 used to be, and i see a comment from the local druid community, what are they goin to do, cast some magic spells to make the building equipment disappear. Where were the druids when machines were trundling over rathlugh. They were casting spells while activists were risking their own safety standing in front of track machines and defending tara with their bare hands. What thanks did the activists get? They were beaten down and evicted by private security companies and the garda. Signing petitions isnt going to make a blind bit of difference in a climate where the government has lost touch with the people and never cared what we thought unless you were prepared to hand over a briefcase stuffed with cash. The turncoat greens soldout the boyne valley. What right have they got to call themselves greens? I know cutbacks have to be made, but i dont want them to be made by the government that steered us at full speed into watever they want to call this jobless legacy they have left us. They prevented a us lawyer investigating allegations of human rights abuses by the government from entering the country. Why would they prevent someone from investigating them if they have nothing to hide? Is this Iran or Ireland? Maybe we should ask the U.S. to consider preventing members of a corrupt irish government from entering america. This government should be replaced with one that has the majority support of the people. POWER TO THE PEOPLE

Having been to Tara a few weeks ago there is one positive aspect of the whole M3 discussion. Being in the mind of the Irish people for well bsaically always, it was slipping into oblivion. The visitor numbers are ever increasing and more and more people visiting the sites.

A lot more archaeological work needs to be done to understand the landscape in which Tara is situated. Ok, The M3 is destryoing the River Gowra which is essential for understanding the site. Ok, the most prevalent of all Irish characteristics, ignorance, has led to this. Ok, if it werent for the crisis and thus that joke of a government running out of money in order to destroy even more irish heritage, we d be looking at even more madness.

Irelands past will be Irelands future.
