Participate in the UNESCO consultation and demand the M3 is re-routed - Deadline December

Dear TaraWatch supporter, Thank you for your continued support of the campaign to save Tara from the M3. It is also critical that you pass on the address, by posting it on your facebook page, blog or even just forwarding this email:

I used to live in Trim, about 8km away. Wasn't this stopped in 2006? Didn't the motorway get re-routed?

Hi Vincent, just signed the UN petition, and whilst signing it I remembered a documentary I saw on TG4 a few months ago which really opened up my eyes to the historical importance of Tara. I can't remember the name of it, or who made it, but I felt so disgusted afterwards that I thought that if this was shown on RTE or TV3 and the general public in Ireland got to see it, then there would be so much more of support for the cause.....??

There is also a conservation category known as SAAO, (special amenity area order) which unlike the others has real teeth and where it is applied no development can take place, Bray Head is one example and efforts are afoot to have the Murrough area of Wicklow Bay likewise designated. I cannot uderstand why an area of such environmental and archaeological sensitivy cannot be similarly designated. I know the designation refers to areas of beauty, but surely, in this case 'beauty' can be applied to Tara.

For way way too long have we allowed government cowboys in the country line each others pockets. Its time that the irish started to uprise against these Americanised puppets. We're a disgrace of a country. WE have no pride in the countryside or maintaining areas for preservation be it historical, flora or fauna. Its time to get serious and fight for what is deemed resonible in other parts of europe i.e preservation and conservation, its all very well threatening the government with fairies and druids but what it boils down to is a need to preserve flora/fauna species, areas of historical importance and the integrity of our landscapes as well as creating an efficient infrastructure. Get scientists, conservationalists, botan ists, taxonomists, ecologists,Natural ists etc involved. Fight fire with fire, take the intellectual and political action and disregard the whole sticking flowers in ak-47's and weeping over cauldrons angle, because thats how the majority of people have seen this cause. Im with you on it but this is the grim reality of how the cause is seen.

I know a lot of people here won't want to hear this, but has anyone given any thought to making the local Druid community petition the government? This is a wanton desecration of our holy ground; I'm sure if the government wanted to build a road right where a church was situated, there'd be rioting in the streets... Anyways, has this route been taken, the use of religious affiliation as a defense of the site? There are plenty of druids across Ireland, the UK and the states who would rally in support of this, if that route is taken. We're a fairly fragmented bunch though, but if the outcry is made... Keltria, OBOD, ADF, Order of the White Oak, Avalon, New Order, etc would probably unite to protest the destruction, if our members aren't already involved, which is also fairly likely...

Anyways, just something to think on.

PRESS RELEASE

TARAWATCH

13 July 2009

'Green Party Banned From TaraWatch Facebook, Before Conference This Weekend'

TaraWatch has decided to ban all Green Party members from their Facebook cause, which currently has 13,500 members, in advance of the Green Party Conference this weekend. (see http://wwww.causes.com/savetara )

A notice will be sent out to all members today, informing them of the decision and asking them to remove themselves from the group if they are members of the Green Party. Notice will also be sent to the Green Party itself, stating that their members have been banned.

The move comes after a Green Party member, Ger Kelly started posting statements from John Gormley on the group page, defending the Minsiter's delay in nominating the Hill of Tara as a UNESCO site, which effectively stops UNESCO from interfering with the M3 motorway and saving Tara.

Former Mayor of Galway, Niall O Bhrolchain, who recently lost his set of Galway County Council, is included in the ban. Niall had been the number 4 recruiter to the Facebook cause, but his activity dropped off dramatically when the Green Party entered Government.

Preparations are being made in TaraWatch for protests outside and inside the Green Party conference, to be held this weekend.

Vincent Salafia of TaraWatch said:

"We should have banned the Green Party moles the moment they sold out Tara and entered Government, but we wanted to abuse them directly.

"They are still pretending to support us, but are really using our network for counter-intelligence and black propaganda.

"The Green Party is finished, but we're not finished with them yet."
