Support Hawaiian Language Based Assessments
Hawaiʻi is a unique situation as it has two official languages. As such, all educational experiences granted one language of instruction should be granted the other. To treat each language differently would open the door to the legal interpretation of governmental policy as racist and colonial.
Why is this campaign important to you?
It is important to me and my Ohana because we were given a gift to learn, speak and live with our language in our home daily. It is important to my children's education that the are tested to the best of their knowledge and ability. My children have attended Hawaiian Immersion Schhols for the last 16 years. Although there has been great progress in many different aspects of the program, our children continue to be tested in English, which is not introduced until the 5th grade. Our children...

Our children who are tested in the third grade struggle tremendously. Allowing testing to be given in the Hawaiian language would be beneficial all around, not only would it test our children accurately, it would evaluate the success of the program as a whole.

This cause is and should be the focus for all keiki and parents to ensure our people and culture is not lost or diluted .. Our language is our roots and our main source of our culture I feel this should be a main priority and support it all the !! Mahalo
For the simple reason, I visited and gained relaxation and some sort of spiritual influence, which helped me get through a very very difficult time. If I could protect Hawaii in any way, shape or form I would. I owe it a lot.
