A Look Inside Brooks
This petition was started on Jan 1, 2013. Because you have signed and shared this facility and the Brooks Babies fb page, people are taking notice. People are going to Brooks and dogs are being adopted/rescued/fostered. And everyone fighting for these sweethearts want to thank you. The live release rate has went up since the word has started to get out about Brooks, not because of ACS but because of you sharing and caring what happens to these beautiful creatures. I want to be fair and want you to look inside of Brooks. Dogs are sent here out of site out of mind, until there time is up. No, this shelter is not full, there are empty kennels, however dogs at this location are put down everyday. They stay here until there number is called and it is time to take there last breath.
Earlier this week a local news station did a report on Brooks, if you listen to what is said the problem is deeper than even this petition has dug into, giving more reasons that the ACS of San Antonio should change the way dogs are handled at this facility. No information, animals being left off of adoption/foster/rescue lists. Dogs diying every night, for no good reason. This is just the start to help the dogs at Brooks and San Antonio Texas.

It is great that they are building a new facility in October. But what about the Brooks dog sitting in the kennel tonight will this be his last day. The kennel next to him might be empty, doesn't matter, he will still die. Things need to change for the Brooks dog now, he doesn't have later. This news story shows all the more reason why dogs at brooks need to be known about. The story has conflicting details, says Brooks is not open to the public, but if you read the comments following the story, and following the video of the Brooks facility, people go out there everyday. They state that after being made aware of this facility they went out to adopt a pet. If the problem with ACS not sharing and posting information about this location is because of contract agreements, then ACS should post the information on their website and all ACS public documents. List every animal so that they have a chance. Place signs with information of how to get to the shelter, including a map on city property as you enter the former military base. you watch, you decide.
The real Brooks Shelter:

Dogs pictured in this video are just a few of the dogs that did not make it out of Brooks. The pictures do not even break the surface of the animals that have lost their lives at this facility. Most are only given 3 days after coming to Brooks until they die. How can anyone find a family pet if - a. they don't know about Brooks, b. not all of the dogs are listed on the ACS website, C. the dogs only have three days to live.
Information needs to be given to the public so that every dog has a fair chance. To see some of the beautiful babies that may not have a tomorrow you can go to:

The Brooks dogs can not wait until the new facility is built, they don't have that time given to them. The way that they are handled and shared needs to change now. Thank you for caring and sharing this petition to help the dogs at Brooks Animal Shelter in San Antonio Texas. The first step is to publish all of the information to the public.
