Teri Burrell and this team lead an amazing ministry that reaches out to women working in sexually oriented businesses. Houston is home to more than 150 brothels and many of them are operating through human trafficking. This ministry reaches directly into strip clubs and other sexually oriented businesses and shares the unconditional love of Jesus with women who feel hopeless.
Teri moved to Houston and began a business as a fitness trainer. After things didn’t work out as planned, she began dancing in an exotic dance club.
She said, “It took the life right out of me. I ended up drinking a bottle of Hennessy every night to get through it and then cocaine followed to keep me awake.” One night she fell down on her knees and asked God to help her. Shortly afterwards she was arrested and felt like this was the end, but little did she know that God had a plan. She met an attorney who offered her a job and God began to bring people into her life that helped her find Jesus. She began coming to Grace Church in 2009 and joined the launch team of the429. After several conversations with Jennifer Foster she began stepping out and talking about what God had done for her. Now it has turned into an incredible ministry that reaches directly into the heart of this industry and brings the unconditional love of Jesus. They bring gift bags that have assorted items for the girls and they share these gifts with a heart of love. Several girls have come out of the industry and are now actively serving in the ministry. The jail that Teri was in has asked her to come back in and speak to the women.
This ministry is about showing God’s love to these women who may not know of this kind of love. We are giving them hope when they feel there is no hope. Their hope is in Jesus. If this means to walk the streets alongside of them or to go to the clubs, then so be it.
This team has a LIFE group, a prayer team, a street team and a product assembly team.
For my 22nd birthday I would love to raise $300 for Unconditional Love Ministries, which is the average amount that they need for each outreach.
