Faith for Life!
We chose this theme for our local fundraising because it not only expresses our Faith in our loving Lord, but for a continued faith in life for Kirk. No matter how big our storms are, we must have Faith our entire Life! God never leaves us, no matter what happens in our lives! Believing and trusting in that Faith will keep you strong.
Kirk has been battling hepatitis and liver disease for over 7 years, and now requires a liver transplant. He has been waiting on the UNOS list for over 4 years. It is a LONG agonizing wait. He must have fluid drained from his belly now weekly, and health complications as he gets sicker create an even longer wait. He is very ill and is in need of this transplant ASAP! We cannot do this alone. Without your financial help this transplant will not be possible.
Kirk isn’t able to work, and relies solely on a small disability check and Shirley’s income. The cost of this transplant is very expensive, even with insurance. The co-pays on the required immunosuppressant & anti-rejection medications following his transplant will run $1500-$2000 a month for the rest of his new liver’s life. Travel expenses to and from Florida, lost income for Shirley during his recovery, and the expenses associated are what we are in desperate need of.
Because Kirk is seeking his transplant in Florida, and we are in North Carolina, the travel and lodging expenses, lost work time for Shirley, and care for Kayla, will also be a huge added expense to an already difficult & costly situation. We will travel to FL constantly for labs, and treatment; and once Kirk receives a liver we will need to re-locate to Florida for at least 2 months, thus maintaining 2 sets of bills for living expenses.. Post-transplant, after being allowed to return home, he will have to return to Florida monthly for days, and then every other month for the first year.
Kayla deeply loves and needs her father, and she deserves to have her dad as long as possible. WE CANNOT GIVE UP HOPE! Through HIM ALL things are possible.
