In tears tonight. My son Trent who is five just started kindergarten last week. He cries when going to bed "it's hard, it's hard" I ask what’s hard, he says "school, numbers". I ask is there other things that are making it hard, he says "it's hot, a friend gets to close to my face and line up". He is very outgoing and always full of energy, to hear him say he does not want to go to school is like hearing him say, “I don’t want eat or I don’t want ride my bike.“ That’s not like him. Please pray for him, he has been in O.T. for only 3 months and our insurance is delaying in anyway they can in approving this, but we are on their tales. We need this so much and will pay out of pocket if we have to, but our insurance is great, but now they decide to pick on something that is so important in a child’s growth, development, and life.

My daughter was diagnosed at 18 months and is now coming upto 5 years old. The earlier detection, the easier it is to work within and help with coping measures. Advise for anyone if you are having major issues keep a daily journal of your entire day and night, fabrics, foods, soaps, the list and journal takes for ever and it very intense but if we didn't have this we would not have a diagnosis and would not have received the help we needed before we lost our funding. Good Luck to you all. Oh and the other 2 kids have SPD too but I have not bothered to get a diagnosis. Our daughter also has Hyper Activity and Defiance Disorder, we are presently awaiting a diagnosis from our OT for AD to add to the HD. It is a roller coaster but well.....this too shall pass.

SPD impacts my 4 1/2 year old daughter Carys. She has dyspraxia, postural disorder and some oral and auditory sensitivities. Things her peers find easy frustrate her. As she's gotten older I've watched her withdraw from her preschool classmates rather than struggle to keep up on a physical or social level. Getting her assessed and into therapies with specialists who understand SPD has made a monumental difference to her and to all of us in her circle. Thank you, Dr Miller, for your commitment to SPD and for your ground breaking research into the neurological basis of the disorder. Your work has put a light at the end of our tunnel and for that we're so grateful.

My 3 yr old son has S.P.D. (Sensory Processing Disorder)...and many people are unaware of his daily struggles in life...instead people look at me like I can't parent properly and that my son is an "outta control hyper little boy". Well he's not...please research what S.P.D. is and become informed then pass the info on to someone else...Thanks. Knowledge is POWER!!!

My son is just starting his O.T. therapy this summer and will be in kindergarten this next school year. I am glad we found out what we can do to help him now- instead of finding out later when it could be too late. It's been hard to understand him and it's a learning process for the whole family. Hard work ahead, but it will help him for the rest of his life!

Please read this and it may explain a lot of the behaviors you see in children these days. If you agree, be sure to join my cause when the invite rolls around =)

My little man Wesley, what will the future bring I don't know. I charish the good days because those are the ones who show who my little man is. This thing that takes him over. He tells me "Mommy, I just want it too stop, I wanna be good". brings tears to my eyes every day.
