If that doesn't convince you as to the importance of this man's fight for human rights, you might then want to read the actual article which appeared in TheEpochTimes.com detailing in his own words the 50 days of torture. If you are still not convinced enough to sign the petition to release him then I don't know what else to say? After learning of this man's story myself I felt it was the LEAST I could do.

Thank you for your question. Our campaign is using the following strategies to work towards ending internet censorship China.
1. Targeting Internet Companies
At the moment major Internet companies such as Google, Microsoft,and Yahoo! are part of the problem – we want them to act as a force for good and become part of the solution in China. We have requested meetings with the CEOs of these companies, ask the public to sign our pledges (you can help us too, sign it here http://action.uncensor.com.au/pledge/), and Amnesty International USA has engaged in shareholder activism.
2. Raising Awareness about the Issue
By making the issue visible, we have been able to the internation spotlight on the Chinese authorities. Recently, under international pressure, several human rights websites including Amnesty.org, has been unblocked in China.
3. CICI (Chinese Internet Censorship Index)
The CICI measures the level of Internet Censorship in China from tests to selected websites and reporting the results.
During the build up to the Beijing Olympic Games, some websites which were previously inaccessible, have become wholly or partly accessible. The CICI has tested these and other sites throughout the Olympic Games and will continue to run tests until the end of 2008, to monitor and report on changes in internet censorship in China. Amnesty International will use the information collected to pressure the Chinese authorities so they don't revert to their former ways.
4. Online tool "Search for Freedom".
Major search companies like Yahoo!,Google, Baidu, Alibaba and Sohu comply with Chinese Government regulations and block search terms and results, and at the same time, they gather information about search terms in their server logs.
Every time you use a search engine, the words you searched for are recorded in a server log. This provides search engine companies with valuable statistical information that they use to sell advertising space to their clients. Analysing these logs is part of the core business model of these companies. Our idea is to take Amnesty's message to the place where it will receive most attention from the search engine companies – the server logs themselves. By inviting users to search for censored topics on search engines in China, we can flood the server logs with terms related to human rights and democracy.
There's also a chance that we might create enough confusion to shield Chinese citizens from scrutiny when they search for these terms.

I know this is another topic, but please let me ask you to take action for Troy Davis whose execution is scheduled by the state of Georgia on SEPTEMBER 23, 2008, even though his serious claims of innocence have never been heard in court!!
Troy Davis was convicted of murder solely on the basis of witness testimony, and seven of the nine non-police witnesses have since recanted or changed their testimony, several citing police coercion. Others have signed affidavits implicating one of the remaining two witnesses as the actual killer. But due to an increasingly restrictive appeals process, none of this new evidence has ever been heard in court.

Another hammer to break the wall!
I can't believe that now Chinese people have two walls (despite the second can't be seen from space). I hope this firewall fall someday soon, because it's unthinkable that internet become controlled this way.
I mean, the first wall was for protection, defense. This second one is for... repression.
Well, it falls... or Chuck Norris wil make it fall. ;)
