About Geneva Glen Camp

The American Camp Association has declared that Geneva Glen excels in creative camping. One of the reasons, we believe, is our stated goal to provide campers with opportunities for self-discovery. We strive to foster a reverence for life and an appreciation of the camp potential for growth and enlightenment.

The Geneva Glen camp philosophy nurtures this quest for self-fulfillment not only in campers but also in leaders. It is through the efforts of able and sensitive counselors that we can help campers form meaningful relationships and learn valuable skills that will enable them to enrich their own communities back home. The hope is that by virtue of their strengthened characters, they can inspire others to honor all persons, whatever color, creed or background.

The multi-faceted Geneva Glen program includes activities geared to the physical, mental and spiritual self: hiking, exploring, horseback riding, swimming, archery, climbing and challenge courses, music, drama, arts and crafts, pageantry and ceremony. Camp leaders join a strong supportive community, and are provided training, seminars and workshops which emphasize techniques that staff members can use to benefit their own colleges or communities.

In many ways, Geneva Glen is unique. It opened as a church camp early in the 1920’s and gradually evolved into a private, non-sectarian, nonprofit operation. Staff members are rewarded not so much by salary as by the opportunity for fellowship and leadership experience that can change their lives. Beyond salary, we offer the exemplary leadership training program that focuses on high standards of character development, spiritual growth and personal achievement. We hope you are attracted to our camp for these reasons.

Geneva Glen has established an enviable reputation among the camping community, and throughout the country, for maintaining high moral standards. Obviously, because we stress integrity, we do not tolerate coarse language, drinking or drugs, or disruptive conduct. Many parents send their children here for exactly these reasons. As a camp family, rather than just a staff, we demonstrate the importance of working together and sharing our insights and successes, our expectations and disappointments, to our mutual benefit.

Geneva Glen has been regarded as “magic.” It is a place “out of time,” it transcends fashion, and liberates from the pressures of the popular. Geneva Glen is one of very few camps able to boast fifth generation campers. This achievement strengthens our commitment to maintain high standards. As a counselor, you will have a tremendous opportunity to positively influence all those with whom you come in contact. Your contributions to the Geneva Glen camp family can be as positive and dramatic as you choose.
