To put an end to India's ongoing mass femicide which has already annhilated 50 million women through female feticide, infanticide, dowry murders, and honor killings.
Over the last 3 generations more than 50 million women have been targeted and systematically purged from Indiaâs population through misogynistic practices like female feticide, female infanticide, dowry murders, and honor killings. See this article for more information href="http://intersections.anu.edu.au/issue22/banerji.htm"
This is the worst genocide in human history and it is ongoing. These women have been targeted and eliminated only because they were female! In the same way that the genocide in Europe targeted people only because they were Jews. Or the genocide in Rawanda targeted people only because they were Tutsis. The message here is clear: If you are female, you do not have the right to live!
The standpoint of this campaign is that this genocide is no different from other genocides and should not be treated as such. It is the outcome of extensive and violent lawlessness, perpetuated largely due to the apathy of public attitude and the lack of all accountability on the part of the country’s system of law and order.
Our campaign petition below is to urge the government of India and international bodies to respond rapidly and effectively to protect girls and women in India. PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION!
The petition demands the following:
1. The Indian government must stop the widespread murder of new born girls as well as the murder of women for dowry and 'honor killings'.
2. This genocide is not due to ignorance or poverty but due to permissiveness. The government must launch an aggressive public awareness campaign that they will strictly enforce existing laws and hold people criminally accountable.
3. Medical and government establishments and the police have to be answerable to why the there has been a total failure with regards to the implementation of the laws prohibiting female feticide.
